WEDDINGS IN DENMARK – GET STARTED

Need to know and do – Weddings in Denmark.

According to the new marriage law from the 1/1-2019, you need the following documents for the procedure. Please read the description carefully, so you have the best opportunity to have the approval as soon as possible.

Please email a copy of the following documents together with the application:

  • Your ID card (for citizens from in Europe it is preferred instead of passports since it is easier for you to copy) – copy of both sides of your ID-card, in good solution and in color. Please copy the data sheet 3-4 times from different angels
  • or your passport – (If you are non-european, you need to copy your passport) you must attach pictures or copies of all pages in your passport including the front and back pages, the copy must be in a very good solution, in color and the passport must be wide open at the copy. Please copy the data sheet 3-4 times from different angels.
  • Documentation for legal entry and residence in Denmark. Your passport will give you legal entry on a tourist visa.for nonEU Citizens, you do not need any visa if you are an EU citizen.
  • Certificate of Residence or other documentation as proof if you live together outside of Denmark. For the German citizens, this can be the erweiterte meldesbescheinigung, for other nationalities it can be a rental contract, bank document or phone bill with you names and addresses. The document must be attached in both the original language and translated into either English or German.
  • If you have one or more common children, you must attach copies of their birth certificate(s). The document(s) must be attached in both the original language and translated into either English or German.
  • Please fill in section nr.11 and nr.20 even though that you are living together

If you have previously been married you must attach proof that the marriage has ended by divorce, death or annulment:

  • Picture or copy of divorce agreement or
  • Picture or copy of death certificate or
  • Picture or copy of annulment.

The documents must be attached in both the original language and translated into either English or German. There may be a requirement that the documents are legalized or Apostille-signed.

Please also attach photos of you as a couple, 2-3 photos form each year you have been together.

The application form and power of attorney documents need to be signed – print out sign and scan the signed documents (no digitally signed documents).

For starting the process, you need to transfer 650 € for town hall in Djutland and Aeroe and 550€ for Town Hall in Zealand (Copenhagen, Frederiksberg and Helsingør, please transfer the money to the following account:
